The Anchorage is located in the small hamlet of Charlestown, on the south side of Gairloch harbour, and sits in a commanding position overlooking the bay. If you want a cottage by the sea, you couldn't get better. The property dates back to the 19th century when it was a fishermans cottage, and subsequently a bakery before being extended in the 1970s. It has been newly renovated by the present owner and is well equipped and furnished throughout. The cottage sits right on the edge of the bay which is tidal so enjoys either views of the sea right outside or when the tide is out, views of the estuary with the river running through it. There is a jetty and slip right next to the cottage so is ideal for anyone with a small boat or kayaks.
The harbour area is within walking distance of the property and from here you can enjoy sea fishing and whale spotting trips, or an excursion on a glass bottom boat and the Old Inn is just a five minute walk away. The harbour area itself has a small general store, cafe, gift shop and art gallery. There are many walks to be enjoyed in Flowerdale just 5 minutes’ walk away and Gairloch golf course and beach are only 10 minutes’ walk away. Gairloch village itself, only a mile or two away, offers a good range of cafes, restaurants and shops and other attractions.
Altogether you have an ideal holiday cottage with lovely views in the nicest part of Gairloch, and with plenty to do without the need for a car, and on a nice day what could be better than sitting on the patio with a glass of wine while the kids play on the shore below.

We stayed at The Anchorage last week of August 2019. What a little gem of a find.
This cottage is set on the lovely watersedge of Loch Gairloch and we were adopted by the little family of ducks who came calling regularly for feeding. The location is wonderful. The cottage itself is stunning and spotless. Much more than you would expect from a cottage as the rooms are huge. The super king bed I just wanted to take home, it was so comfy. The kitchen is simply marvelous with everything you could ever need - right down to a breadmaker. The cooker is a dream.
Freesat tv and perfect internet. A logfire all set to just light. The welcome pack was perfect and after a 5 hr drive most welcome indeed. We had to leave a day early due to a family emergency but we hope to be back in the very near future. Thank you for allowing us to borrow your lovely home.
Wonderful location, cottage very comfortable with everything we could possibly need! Everyone thrilled with all the sightings of seals. Saw a heron enjoying his fish breakfast & fed the local ducks when they swam across to greet us. Visited Red Point twice & the Badachro Inn each time, food delicious. Loved the Inverewe Garden & Estate, your local Heritage Museum is a must & so is the Bistro! Mellon Udrigle was a delight. We enjoyed our visits to the Old Inn. We thought our stay at Loch Tay in 2014 was relaxing but we all agreed this has been even better. The past 2 weeks have been a joy here at the cottage.
Lovely cosy, comfortable house with superb facilities. Had a very laid back, peaceful rest here - unfortunately the weather (and the wifi) were not on our side so ended up watching loads of Olympics, reading, jigsaw puzzles, card games, etc. Leaving here thoroughly relaxed and chilled out and several pounds heavier due to the brilliant food at the Badachro Inn.
Great house, fabulous location! Hope to return.... Spotted an otter outside the house, saw dolphins in the bay and a deer on the beach! We have enjoyed some lovely meals - The Sheiling, The Old Inn and the cafe at the Perfume Studio. Great fishing, we caught mackeral, pollack ,coalfish, plaice, wrasse and sea trout (almost forgot cod!) Three weeks here passed too quickly.
