Beul na Mara is a white washed cottage nestled along the shoreline in the village of Gairloch. It's enviable position would suit couples seeking an idyllic secluded break but equally those who love the outdoors and everything this stunning part of the Highlands has to offer. If strolls along a sandy beach followed by a trip to one of the local pubs is your thing or alternatively for the more seriously minded walkers tackling one of the many challenging Munros that surround this area of Wester Ross, then Beul na Mara is a fantastic base for your holiday on the west coast.
The location of the cottage in the centre of the village means it is within easy walking distance of shops and places to eat and drink but its position down by the shore gives the feeling of being away from it all and the sea is only yards away. The views across Gairloch bay with the Torridon mountains and the Isle of Skye beyond are stunning and as the cottage is south facing it catches the sun from dawn to dusk, and enjoys fantastic sunrises and sunsets.
Whilst the cottage is over one hundred years old and maintains many of the original features the owners have added a modern feel to the interior to enhance these features but also offer the comforts you'd expect whilst on holiday. There is a wood burning stove in the lounge and also in the living/dining room and the cottage is fully central heated and double glazed so whatever the time of year or whatever the weather decides to do the cottage will always feel cosy.
For those warmer evenings there is a decked sitting area at the rear of the house with a terraced garden leading up to a seating area where you can catch a glimpse of the sea over the cottage roof top.
Alternatively you can sit on the pew in the south facing front porch in front of the large landscape window and look out for otters, seals, birds or the boats over at Badachro Bay and completely unwind. Whatever the time of year, while the weather might change, the stunning views from almost every window never will, making this an ideal year round retreat for those who really want to spoil themselves.
Entrance porch with seating and large picture window.
Large lounge which is decorated and furnished with rich warm colours and tweeds and has a wood burning stove, Smart TV with Freesat and ample seating for four. There is a DVD player, CD player, free WiFi and an i-pod dock which is Bluetooth enabled. Views out over the sea.
Spacious living and dining area with dining table, sofa, wood burning stove and stone flooring leading into the kitchen. Views out over the sea.
Well equipped kitchen, with electric double oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, cafetiere and toaster. From the kitchen is access to the split level decking area and rockery garden behind the cottage.
Small toilet with wash basin.
Double bedroom with king size bed has sea views, window seating and ample storage space. Velux rooflights make this room especially bright.
Bedroom with two single beds also with sea views, window seating, TV and DVD player and ample storage space .
Bathroom with slipper bath, seperate shower cubicle, wash basin, WC and heated towel rail. The new bath is next to the bathroom window so you can have a nice soak whilst admiring the view over the sea.
Heating is by oil fired central heating and wood burning stoves in the lounge and living/dining room.
Directly in front of the house is a sloping grassed area leading to the rocks and the sea, with a garden bench that takes advantage of the view. At the rear of the cottage there is a decked sitting area with a fully enclosed terraced garden leading up to a seating area where you can catch a glimpse of the sea over the cottage roof top.
Shed for bike storage. One dedicated parking space, marked Beul, at the end of Shore Street. Fom here it is about 30 metres walk to the cottage on a gravel path. Any additional cars will need to park in the car park at Strath after unloading.
Pet friendly - Two dogs are allowed but it is requested that they are not allowed on the furniture or on the beds and are not left unattended in the property.
