Am Fasgadh, Leacnasaide, Badachro

Am Fasgadh (meaning ‘The Shieling’ in Gaelic) is a spacious detached bungalow in a peaceful idyllic location only 200 metres from the shore of Loch Gairloch. A path leads down from the house through the woodland to the waters’ edge, where it is ideal for launching small boats or kayaks. It has recently been refurbished and provides a comfortable and well equipped base to explore the area.

The house is suitable for both the very young and the very old with all the bedrooms on one level. It sleeps nine comfortably in four bedrooms and there is a small double sofa bed in the living room for occasional use, and is a great place for everyone, from those who just want some peace and quiet, to families with dogs and children. There are two bathrooms, both with shower and one with a bath. The large living room has windows on three sides and access to the verandah. There is a very well equipped kitchen, a large family dining area and a great sitting area for all the family.

There is an abundance of wildlife on the doorstep with frequent visits by deer and pine martens, and it is a veritable paradise for bird watchers as the area is well wooded. Seals and otters can be spotted down at the water's edge. The area is ideal for walking and there are numerous beautiful sandy beaches around. Gairloch, 5 miles away, provides a wealth of activities such as boat trips, golf and pony trekking.

Renser and Morris families

House was very spacious and comfortable for 9 people – very impressed, had everything we needed and some lovely art work. Would definitely recommend here for a relaxing, well catered for family holiday.

The Glynn/McLeod families

We have had a fantastic week at Am Fasgadh - the perfect house for a great family holiday! The games garage was a big hit with kids - young and not so young - and along with all the old board games and playing cards we had brilliant fun in the evenings. Lucky with the weather, we spent full days on the beaches - Red Point becoming our favourite.

The Rhinds

Getting close to our 20th visit to this house. Great visit again – walking, fishing, lazing, eating, drinking etc. Some of the usual wildlife sightings – common and grey seal, great skua, golden eagle at the Fairy Lochs, sea eagle at the point opposite the house. There may be more cars on the road but off the roads the place is as peaceful as ever. Good as ever.
